And more

So yesterday I was sitting on the couch and asked everyone if they smelled poop. We checked our kids' pants- no poop. Then Christy said, "Libby....what is on your foot?" So ummm...yeah.

Anyways....having a great time. Here are a few more pictures. Enjoy.

NONSTOP FUN

Snows here, reporting from the Dells, Day 4. Things are great---girls are having a blast. EL is more apprehensive about the slides and stuff this time around than when we were here two years ago. Maybe it's because 4 hours after we arrived on Sunday, Christy and I took her and Lucas down a tunnel slide that was way too fast and pitch black the entire time. Whoops. Our bad. Probably not a smart move on our part. Regardless though, she is having fun and is napping during the day here which hasn't happened at home in months---can't complain!! We are blessed to be here and the weather has been awesome. My knee is killing me after a run Christy and I did this morning---darn thing just does not want me to run on it. Nothing else bothers it but a good ol' run. Guess I just won't be able to do a marathon with my husband someday----shucks! :)

RD and Josh had a good golfing game yesterday morning and Christy and I had a great lazy river talk/prayer time in the afternoon. Couldn't ask for anything better---this has truly been a vacation!
Miss you all in T-town! See you soon...

The Dells

Well here we are in the Wisconsin Dells. Some people think it's kinda like a Gatlinburg area---real "touristy," lots of beach-type stores like Pacific Sunwear and of course the typical vacationy restaurant like Holihans. Can't forget the deer petting zoo that's down the street either...although I can't make fun of it cause when we were here two years ago we took EL there and she loved it! HeHe.
We're staying at a place called Wilderness Lodge and it's a waterpark resort---has 4 different waterparks within our resort and they are incredible. We haven't even had one full day here yet and EL and EM are already both having a blast. They love the water. We're working on teaching EL to kick those feet when she swims and working on EM keeping the snot in her nose and not down the front of her face...she just got a cold day #1 of being here. UGGGHH. (First cold ever and it's while we're on vacation, go figure).
While EM sleeps (hopefully---cause she can't breathe) and EL rests...I escaped to the lodge to put a few pictures on here. ENJOY! More to come in the next few days.
Hopefully I will have something exciting to share cause there's only so much variety and excitement in standing in a 12 in. deep pool rotating my body clockwise to supervise as EL sprints from one slide/water toy to the next. It is pretty mundane for friends/family to hear about but it sure is fun for me as I watch this little body go full speed ahead, having the time of her life. OHH to be a kid again!

update

For anyone who might be curious, RD is feeling 100% better. Whew. Thanks for your prayers! Also, I changed our full names on this blog to a little bit of a nickname thing. It was suggested to me by a few people to do that---just for safety reasons. Sorry if it's annoying! Love to all and nighty night.

WHAT a night

Tonight was such a treat for RD and I. Our great friends (in fact, an entire small group from our church) called and told RD and I to "get ready" by 6:00. So we followed their directions, and at 6 PM my sister and her boyfriend arrived. My sis stayed with the girls and her boyfriend drove us to dinner. He handed us a wad of cash and a Starbucks gift card and told us he'd pick us up down the street at Starbucks in a couple of hours (a beautiful night for a stroll to S-bux by the way). While the two of us were enjoying a yummy Italian meal at our favorite local joint, a group of our friends were at our house bathing our kids, putting them to bed, cleaning our house from top to bottom, washing and cleaning out our cars. I mean COME ON. It doesn't get much better than that! The evening ended with them praying for us and our marriage, our family, and our leadership in the church. What a neat thing.

Thank you friends. Thank you to all of you involved in our lives here in T-town- living life with us. Loving us. our kids. our faults and weaknesses, too. RD and I talked quite a bit tonight about how grateful we are for the people we are building this church with. It is incredible. WE are the ones that are blessed friends, We are!!

Utilize the 3 year old...

On mornings like today when everything needs to be done at the same time: dog needs to be fed, coffee needs to be made, house needs to be cleaned for company coming tonight, waffle needs to be buttered, and the lawn needs to be watered...I'm going to simply adopt this philosophy.Utilize the 3 year old. :) EL came in quite handy when she fed EM her cereal this morning- she was a pro! Truly, she gave her the entire bowl. (why can't she feed herself that well??) Now if only I can get her to empty the dishwasher by herself...

Ode to Daddy

So Happy Father's Day to all the daddys of kiddos out there!!

(not like many men are actually reading this blog of mine---oh well!)

This has been a rather strange Father's Day given that the Father of our Household has been "down and out" with a strange stomach bug for 7 days now. The KING OF FOOD has not been able to eat some pretty amazing meals this week. I don't know what's more aggravating to him, being sick---or not being able to eat all the food that his eyes like to look at. HeHe.

HOWEVER, to quote RD 16 seconds ago, "it's the perfect Father's Day. Watching Tiger Woods make that last putt only to tie up Rocco for another 18 holes tomorrow. THEN, turn the channel to the NBA finals!!" Ya know, if he's happy today, I'm happy. And I mean that.

In all seriousness, pray for RD's body to fight this strange stomach pain, etc. It is a sad and frustrating thing watching someone be miserable and not being able to do a darn thing about it. For his sake, my sake, and our girls' sakes, we want him back!! (Just to be honest--I feel, in many ways, like a single mom this week and I. am. tired.) Not to mention that we leave for vacation a week from today. Yikes!
Well, off to do laundry. Goodnight!

I mean for real...

Between something EL said today and EM's bathtime festivities, RD and I had quite a few laughs. As EL was sitting on the potty tonight and I was looking for EM's motrin, I asked El if she put it somewhere. She said no. She then proceeded to shout, "Hey RD (but she said his real name), do you know where EM's motrin is?" I pretty much hit the floor laughing. She was SO matter of fact. It was like she knew I was going to say/ask that exact thing to RD, who was in another room. She said it for me. RD quickly reminded her that he is Daddy, not RD. Ha! And EM....well just look at these bathtime pictures. She was having SO much fun! Hilarious. RD and I just sat on the couch for a good 30 min. chatting. These evenings when the girls are both in bed by 8, we're both ready to just "chill," they are the best...I love summer time when the breeze comes through the windows and when we can relax, talk, and enjoy each other--not worrying about having to go to bed early. Ahhhh...

Blackout

If only I could have had a video camera taping everything EL was saying to me as we walked throughout our house last night lighting candles....a thunderstorm knocked out our power for 12 hours...of course while RD is in Dallas and I was home alone. :) I was trying not to laugh at her as she reminded me that "there's nothing to be scared about mommy, everything will be all right. Just settle down. That lightening is outside not inside. " Now I was perfectly calm----it was quite funny though cause I knew she was just doing some self assurance of the circumstances and did it in quite a creative context! Well we made it and it forced me to be alone in silence and stillness with candles for an hour or so...something I always say I need to do, yet never do! So Praise God for that.

What got me into this

My friend Beth just told me that there are publishers out there that create books of some sort for bloggers. For a small fee, you just have to send your posts (or whatever else you do on these things) and they create pages for a 2008 book that could serve as a journal someday. Great idea!! I thought that would be really cool to someday show my girls----things they did, what they looked like, and our thoughts through it all! Why not?! I mean EL just took this picture of EM and I today---not bad for a 3 year old! It will be fun to show her/remind her of her mild obsession with cameras someday. :) It would also be fun to show her a picture of the first time she went tubing (yesterday) at the lake. Although she screamed for the first 5 minutes, see pic below, she grew to "like it," as long as we didn't go out to the deep part again. Ha! And EM----I mean look at those cheeks. If I had a penny for everytime someone said that to me...

If only I could have gotten a picture of EL throwing a temper tantrum at her friend Jocelyn's birthday party today cause SHE didn't get to open her presents. I wonder what the neighbors thought about me as I practically dragged her home by the arm, pushing Em in the stroller with the other hand. Interesting. Well anyways, here's a few pictures. Enjoy. Signing off for my first "blog entry" ever. Here goes...
