WOW it's been awhile
I haven't posted in forever. I have good seasons and bad seasons with this blog. Ahhh!
We've had a busy and a great month. Towards the end of March, Ryan and I were blessed to be able to get away to Chicago for two nights. It was SUCH a treat. We had a great couple of days together, were blessed to be able to stay downtown right in the heart of the city, and we got to SLEEP IN!!! We loved our little trip with each other and we ate a LOT of food. :)
Our fam also just got back from Hilton Head last Friday; probably the best family vacation we've had together. PICTURES will be posted very soon, I promise. (The hard part is that we are not living at home right now so the chord I need to connect my camera to a computer is MIA. We are having our bathroom remodeled soooo we have been living at my parent's house. But only a few more days before we're back home. Yahoo!!
Even though I was 30 weeks pregnant while on vacation (and NOT small), I felt great. The car ride was a little rough because of my compressed bladder and restless legs, but I made it. HeHe. :) The girls had an absolute blast; they are at such good ages for a trip like that. Ellie can ride her two wheeler bike all over creation, they both loved playing in the sand (they played Tinkerbell and pretended the sand was pixie dust), they're at great ages for eating out at restaurants, and they slept wonderfully. Emma was in a big girl bed all week and did great with that--never an issue of her getting out once. That is a HUGE difference from what we experienced with Ellie so we're thinking that maybe we'll do the whole big girl bed thing soon with her now that we're home.
I'm a little freaked about moving her to a big girl bed AND moving her into Ellie's room all at the same time. If anyone has input on that, please share. This baby boy is coming in 2 months and I have to figure this out!!! The "nursery" is still fully Emma's room. Hmmmm....

unforgettable moment
The girls and I were wrestling on the couch today. Em's head slammed right into my eye and it HURT. I sat there for a second holding my eye and said "ouch, that hurt!!" El stopped and said, "mommy, can I pray for your eye?" Of course I said yes. She laid her hand on my eye and here is what she prayed for me:
"God, will you just heal mommy's eye? I know it hurts her really bad and that makes me sad. Do you think you could heal it by like Monday? I know you can do anything. Please make mommy feel better God. Amen."
Precious.
Of course in the meantime, Em took HER hand and put it on my other eye and closed her eyes while El was praying. She had no clue what was going on, but I know I'll never forget that moment!!

A classic line
Driving in the car, the 4 of us.
Em: Mommy, where is Jessy?
Me: Who? Oh that girl we just met? She is back at Uncle J's house
Em: Oh ok
El: How did you remember her name, Em? Wow- that's good!
Em: silence
Me: You're right El, that is great that she remembered her name, she must be good at that?!
El: Yeah, she must have as good of a remember-er (*memory*) as me!!!!
Something we ALWAYS tell Miss El is how impressed we are with her memory and that she amazes us at the things she remembers. Hmmmm, apparently she not only thinks highly of herself but she thinks it's called a remember-er!!
:)
Love it!

mid week hello
Wednesdays are great. It typically is a slow day for us and today- it is indeed. I love it. Dinner is in the crock pot, Ems is sound asleep, El is coloring next to me, and my baby boy is movin all around in my belly. Not to mention, I think we have come to a decision about what we're going to do with El's Kindergarten next year (Ohio is requiring all kindergartners to attend a FULL day next year). After an insane amount of prayer, God has given both RD and I great peace about enrolling El in OHVA. Ohio Virtual Academy, or http://www.k12.com/
Check it out.
It's schooling at home. We are pumped and excited for El to have a few more months "around the house" with us next year. In the middle of making this tremendous decision, my little peanut sits me down and begins telling me all about how God made her just the way He wants her. How He loves her and doesn't want her to wish she was someone else. That God has given her blessins so she can help other people. Etc. Etc. After she was finished sharing her heart with me, I asked her where she learned that. She said, "Well, just from you guys. From hearin' you talk, from bein' around." That did it---it was the last confirmation I was looking for. Having El around us and having the opportunity to have those special little talks with her throughout the day are just priceless. There is nothing I would want more than to have lots of those kinds of times with her in the faze of her life where she is MOST teachable and shape-able. I want as much time with this little girl as I can have and I'm not worried one bit about her social life. Her and I BOTH adore people and our friends, and get-togethers, and cookie-baking days, and playdates, etc. etc. That will not change.
I'm 24 weeks prego and going strong! I'm getting lots of comments like "WOW- you have to go all the way till June?" And "well, they say baby #3 gets bigger, quicker." "Oh you look great--you're all belly! And besides, you're supposed to be gaining weight!"
I love it. Everyone has an opinion, right? But honestly, the weight gain and all that isn't bothering me this time around. I know it's probably going to be our last baby and I'm trying to enjoy every minute. I might not be saying that 2 months from now when I literally can't see my toes anymore, my girls can no longer sit anywhere on my lap, and my ankles have disappeared. But in the meantime, I'm gonna soak it up! This is the most miraculous blessing any woman could ever experience. It's just simply amazing. We are excited for this little baby boy (yet still nameless) to join our world.
Check it out.

SO much to say
We have some fun things going on. :)
1. We had our 20 week ultrasound this week and found out we were having a BOY!!! The girls went with RD and I to see this great event and they loved every minute of it. The entire time the ultrasound tech was working on the sonogram, El kept asking her if the lady could please make it be a boy. She REALLY wanted a little brother. So needless to say, when the nice lady showed us the male body parts, we were all ECSTATIC! RD was somewhat in disbelief as he doesn't want to get his hopes up in case the tech was wrong. HeHe. It was pretty stinkin obvious that what we saw between those little tiny legs were not little girl parts.
That night at dinner we asked El what she thought we should name her little brother. Without hesitation, she confidently said "Hmp...STEVE!" It was like "duh mom and dad, like why would we name him anything else?" Keep in mind, we don't know ANYONE named Steve...so we thought this comment was pretty much hilarious.
2. El had her 5th birthday party today with a few of her little girlfriends. I'll post some actual pictures soon...but I wanted to put a few video snippets on here for now. It was an absolute blast. We loved every minute of this afternoon and besides the fact that she was on a royal sugar high all evening, it was worth every ounce of effort put into it. We're looking forward to our "family celebration" tomorrow.
